WHAT IS IT? The ABACUS is a fitness calculator that measures the minimum* amount of HEAT ENERGY (kcal) your muscles must burn to perform the prescribed workouts.
HOW IS IT DATA-FREE? You DO NOT enter Personally Identifiable Information (PII) Data. You enter a made up word as a code name and seemingly random numbers. It’s NEARLY Fool-Proof.
AM I SMART ENOUGH? You enter 7 numbers…sometimes less…can you handle that?

HOW DOES IT WORK? Physics BUSTER!!!
MASS x ACCELERATION x DISTANCE
Each movement our body makes is the result of work. Every exercise is broken down to individual movements and the ABACUS multiplies body mass lifted, average rate of acceleration, distance covered, and number of reps.
CAN YOU GIVE AN EXAMPLE? Thought you’d never ask…
The Squat is a movement at the knees and hips, bending those joints to ~90 degrees and lowering your body toward the ground.
During the "up phase" of the squat, the ABACUS calculates:
MASS: Weight of your body minus your lower leg and foot - they don't move
ACCELERATION: Gravity, plus twice the length of your upper leg since you could do it 2x per second
DISTANCE: The length of your upper leg (makes sense, right?)
The "down phase" of the squat is also broken out like this, and the two movements combined provide the total work performed during a single squat.
YOU KNOW HOW LONG MY UPPER LEG IS? Umm…Maybe
By taking population studies and aggregating average length and weight of each “body segment”, the ABACUS creates a “body matrix” of your 10 “mass segments” apportioning a percentage of your height and weight to each. One of those segments is your upper leg. I know how much it weighs too…😬
SCORE
WHAT’S THE SCORE? After you have entered your weight and sets completed each round…Your SCORE is the total amount of heat your muscles generated, initially calculated in Joules, and converted to kilocalories. ABACUS does all of this for you in moments (You’re Welcome!) Naturally, the more sets completed will increase your final score.
DO SCORES MATTER? …it depends on what you want. If you want to be fit, then yeah, yup…The amount of work your muscles can complete is a direct result of the work they have previously completed.
