2023 DRAFT TIPS by STANLEY
“Talent sets the floor. Character sets the ceiling” – Bill Belichick
Hello…yes…
It’s me…yer ol’ uncle Stanley! Yes. Thank you.
…Hey kids. How do you make a NAPKIN…dance…
You put a little Boogie in it!

RAWWWWRRRR
-
Did you just “roar” at me? Your ‘roaring’? What the hell’s wrong with you, stop doing that in public.
Where was I?
Oh yeah, showing you new kids “the ropes” to trying to win my SILVER NAPKIN…which you won’t…
Well luckily for you, your ol’ Uncle Stanley and his bookmaker - I mean accountant - Metrics Jim, took all the data from last year and put it into a nice little report card with graphs and charts. There were tons. It was all very impressive.
Since it’s your first time, and we haven’t wrinkled your brain yet, here are my Top 5 Draft Tips for 2023.
Good luck to you…
1 STACK YOUR QB & WR
The Stanley Napkin has progressive stacking bonuses for 40 yard plays (+3), 40 yard TDs (+4), and 50 yard TDs (+5).
So when Josh Allen hit Gabe Davis for that 98-yard strike to open up a historic drubbing of the Pittsburgh Steelers, they combined for:
0.2 - 1 pass completed
1.0 - 1 reception
4.9 - 98 pass yards
9.8 - 98 receiving yards
12.0 - 2 touchdowns (pass/receive)
That’s 27.9 points…in your home PPR league…in the NAPKIN, they also received:
6.0 - 2 40+ yard play bonuses
8.0 - 2 40+ yard TD bonuses
10.0 - 2 50+ yard play bonuses
24 BIG PLAY BONUS POINTS….
51.9 POINTS on ONE PLAY
The Single-Play 50-Burger,
Served only at the STANLEY NAPKIN…
2 ONLY DRAFT GREAT QBS
League 1 was won with a combination of Russell Freaking Wilson, Mike White, and Brock Purdy. It was a testament to a strong supporting cast. But that team had no shot at winning the whole tournament without the leader.
Take a peek at the TRADING NAPKINS that the 2022 High Scorers won…and just note the QB names…maybe draft those...
You’re Welcome
3 COURTLAND SUTTON LINE
Have your 4th WR by the time Courtland Sutton is drafted, or draft Courtland Sutton…
And it doesn’t have to be Courtland Sutton, I’m just saying. Around pick 90, we’ll call it. Have 4 wideouts or start consulting your nearest crystal ball.
Any questions will be referred to the button above titled “WALL OF FAME”.
4 RBS LATE AND APLENTY
Late RBs hit. If you knew Cordarelle Patterson was going to be an occasional star, or that Jerrick McKinnon would go off in the Fantasy Playoffs…you had a great year. But those were waiver adds.
We have light benches. They, the late RBs, will be on waivers, because you will put them all there after week 2. The guys who are easy drops if they don’t rip out of the gates so you can unabashedly lay Week 1 waiver claims, that’s who you want. If you even hit one you are sitting pretty. If you hit two, you have a strong trade chip, my friend. And if not, roll a few more dice from the waiver wire…
This chart is a 5-year composite of the average points scored of the Top 32 QB and TEs, Top 64 RBs, and Top 95* WRs (“only 95 WRs made it into the top 240 each year, but let’s call it 96” - Metrics Jim). Note the GREEN RB LINE staying generally above the BLUE WR LINE.
BONUS NUGGET: The YELLOW TE LINE trends up comparatively to RB and WR where the last two to three rounds of a best ball draft fall.
5 SPEND YOUR FAAB
Just because they are called Free Agents doesn’t mean you have to cheap out.
You have 300 fictional dollars that evaporate at the end of season. Spend them. You have to get the highest score out of hundreds of people.
Don’t cheap out on me now…
Plus it’s good practice for the upcoming CBDC with expiry capabilities.
BONUS: SWARM THE PLAYOFFS
Game stacking works in DFS and Best Ball…it may not work in seasonal tournaments like this…but it IS being used against you by GOYAADi’s robot…maybe you should at least check it out.
